 4. Use a graph to find the output of a function given an input or vice versa.

Today's objectives:
 1. Perform a break-even analysis:
     a. Use the graph or formula of Revenue, Cost, or Profit to determine the break-even quantity (or quantities).
     b. Determine the amount of Revenue or Cost at a break-even quantity.
2. Use graphs to determine the production level when a company will maximize Revenue or maximize Profit.
3. Interpret the slope and y-intercept of a linear function if it represents Cost, Revenue, or Profit.

Friday, January 17 Supply and Demand (1.2)

                 Supply and Demand

Today's objectives:
1. Find and interpret the slope and axis intercepts of a linear demand function.
2. Find the formula of a cost function without given the y-intercept.
3. Find marginal cost, marginal revenue, and marginal profit from a formula or graph.
4. Determine the equilibrium quantity if given the formulas or graphs of the supply and demand.
    At a given price find if the market has a consumer surplus (like this) or shortage (like this) and how it affects the price.

Quadratic Functions (2.1 & 2.2)
 

Handout:  Revenue Rectangles

Today's objectives:
1. Use the table feature and intersection finder of a grapher to solve problems involving supply and demand functions.
2. Given the formulas of a linear cost function C(x) = mx + b and a quadratic revenue function R(x),
     find any break-even quantities and create the profit function. Use the intersection feature of a grapher to help you.
3. Given the formula of a quadratic function find any zeros and its vertex.
4. Given a linear price-demand function p(x), create the revenue function R(x) = x·p(x) and maximize the revenue.
    Use the intercepts of the demand line to help you.
    Similarly if you have a demand price function q = D(p) find R(p) = p·q. =  p·D(p).

1. If given an exponential formula, report the growth factor and percent growth rate (or decay factor and percent decay rate). Know their general shape.

3. Solve an exponential equation with logarithms.
4. Use a logistic equation to model cumulative total sales.
