  • 2021/03/28: My collaborators, Daisuke Kihara, Kathleen L. Foster, and I are organizing a Workshop in Mathematical and Computational Biology on June 10-11, 2021. We have a fantastic selection of keynote speakers, and so far we have 57 participants registered from 5 continents, 14 countries, and 35 institutions!   • 2021/03/25: The Lilly Endowment grant proposal named "Indiana Digital Crossroads", was funded in full! PFW portion will see Mathematical Sciences in the lead. The grant will be dedicated over the next 5 years to expand data-driven education in broad areas across all majors, as well as K-12 engagement. Biggest Congratulations to the team of PI and Co-PIs: Prof. Akridge Provost and Vice President in West Lafayette (PI), Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning in West Lafayette Jenna Rickus, the Director of the Data Mine program in WL Prof. Mark Ward, Vice Chancellor at PFW Prof. Carl Drummond, the Chair of Mathematical Sciences at PFW Prof. Dragnev, and me.

  • 2021/03/24: My collaborator, Kathleen L. Foster, and I have just had three abstracts accepted for poster presentation at the ICLR 2021 Workshop on AI for Public Health, which will take place on May 8, 2021!

  • 2021/03/22: My collaborator, Kathleen L. Foster, and I have just had 6 abstracts accepted for poster presentation at the ISCB Great Lakes Bioinformatics Conference 2021, which will take place May 7-13, 2021! These posters highlight some of the work on COVID-19 happening in my group and include a few of the great student projects that have come out of our Thematic Program.

  • 2021/03/11: A paper, written by my collaborator, Kathleen L. Foster, and myself, together with my Fall 2020 STAT 512 students Liam Carol, Chris Hernandez, and Justin Smethers, entitled "A spatio-temporal investigation of the growth rate of COVID-19 incidents in Ohio early in the pandemic" has just been accepted for publication in the Ohio Journal of Science.

  • 2021/03/11: My collaborator, Kathleen L. Foster, and I have just had two abstracts accepted for oral presentation at the 21st ECMI Conference on Industrial and Applied Mathematics! Our talks will take place on April 15, 2021.

  • 2021/02/28: I have just been made the President-Elect of the PFW chapter of Sigma-Xi!

  • 2020/12/05: My collaborator, Kathleen L. Foster, and I organized the 2nd Annual Data Science Week online from PFW from November 30-December 4, 2020. Despite the virtual setting, we built on the previous year's success and had greatly increased participation, with more than 100 participants from a variety of institutions from our region and beyond!

  • 2020/11/05: Great News! I have been awarded a Summer Research Grant from the Purdue Research Foundation! Looking forward to working on several projects this Summer!

  • 2020/11/03: Great News! I have been awarded a Service-Learning Fellowship from Purdue West Lafayette Office of Engagement and I will be Service-Learning Fellow for the Spring 2021 Term! Looking forward to this!

  • 2020/10/27: Join us at the 2021 Spring Meeting of the Mathematical Association of America for my presentation on "The ubiquity of the Simpson's paradox"!

  • 2020/10/26: I gave a talk entitled "The Brain Age Problem" at the 2020 Neuromatch Conference. See the presentation on YouTube here.

  • 2020/10/03: I gave a talk entitled "On stationary solutions to the Nonlinear Schrodinger Equation on Hd" at the 2020 Indiana Section of the Mathematical Association of America.

  • 2020/09/02: I have launched a Thematic Program on Data Science and COVID-19. This initiative includes both a new, interdisciplinary, project-based course, research initiatives, and a seminar series that will feature many high profile experts in the fields of epidemiology, bioinformatics, applied statistics, mathematical modeling and much, much more!   • 2020/08/01: A paper, written by my collaborator, Kathleen L. Foster, and myself, entitled "Societal and economic factors associated with COVID-19 indicate that developing countries could suffer the most" has just been published in the Technium Social Sciences Journal. Check out the pdf here

  • 2020/07/17: I have been chosen as recipient of the Sigma-Xi Researcher of the Year Award 2020 for the PFW chapter of Sigma-Xi.

  • 2020/05/05: My collaborator, Kathleen L. Foster, and I presented our work "Un-covering the Impact of the Environment in Lizard Biomechanics: from classical methods to modern statistical learning" at the 2020 MBI workshop on Mathematical and Computational Methods in Biology.

  • 2020/03/02: Great News! I have been awarded the START Initiative Grant for the Fall 2020! Many thanks to the College of Arts and Sciences for funding my proposal!

  • 2019/12/07: Some collaborators and I organized the 1st Annual Data Science Week here at PFW from December 4-6, 2019. It was a great success with more than 60 participants from departments across the university!

  • 2019/11/05: I am very honored to have been awarded a START grant from the PFW College of Arts and Sciences to fund a project on "Deep learning with applications to wireless communication". Dr. Peter Dragnev, Dr. Todor Cooklev, several PFW students, and local Fort Wayne companies will all collaborate in this very exciting experience.

  • 2019/08/19: I began my new position as an Assistant Professor of Data Sciences and Applied Statistics in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Purdue University, Fort Wayne.
