Researched Social Sciences Paper 

Please email me your topic idea by Tuesday, May 23 
 

Basic Assignment: 

• Determine a topic within one of the social sciences (sociology, psychology, etc.) that interests you. 
• Let me know what you are planning to research and develop before you put much work into it.  I would advise doing just enough investigation to make sure that the topic is appropriate and that you will be able to find enough research. 
• Once your topic has been approved, you should locate sources through libraries and online databases and read them thoroughly. 
• Begin drafting an essay which persuades your audience of your conclusions on the topic at hand.

Specifications: 

Audience:   Scholars/social scientists OR college-educated non-experts. 

Purpose:    To convince your readers of the plausibility of your thesis statement through the use of analysis and interpretation of your research materials. 

Format:    APA 

Tone:   Formal/scholarly 

Length:  10 pages (minimum) 

Sources:  A minimum of 12 (a nice, easy dozen!) secondary (or possibly primary) sources are required.  Internet sources should be credible and mid-level to scholarly.  If you have questions on suitability, send me a link to the source in question and I will advise.
