Suppose you could travel back in time and talk to yourself at the start of the semester. What advice would you tell you? Alternatively, If you had a buddy who was going to take this course next semester, what advice would you give them from Day 1 so that they are successful?
My advice would be to get plenty of sleep. This way you can always be ready for class and be prepped to learn each morning.
my advice for myself is look at the textbook more with you get stuck
If I could travel back in time to the beginning of the semester I would tell myself to not let the 10% late penalty fool me, those homeworks can pile up quickly. It's better to just set aside a little time every day to work on them than engulf them all at once near the end.
My advice to my self would be don't wait till the last minute to do the HW's and don't just take the 10% penalty and put it off because they do pile up.
I would tell myself to attend in person class everyday when possible, don't only just attend class remotely.
If I had to go back in time to tell myself something, it would be to stop procrastinating and study in short variables of time throughout the week rather than having to sit and do that in 1 big period of time.
If could go back in time, I would tell myself to get a better sleep schedule and not to leave all my homework for the last minute
I would go back in time and tell myself that the key to this class is simply doing the homework because if you understand the homework then you will understand the quizzes/tests. Also, if my buddy was going to take this test, I would tell him that he really needs to do well on the tests because they are minimally given but reflect a large portion of your grade. That goes hand in hand with completion of the homework however.
If i could go back in time I would have spent more time reading the class info and worksheets and textbook information for each subject prior to coming to class. I think that would’ve helped me to better understand the lectures, as well as have the opportunity to ask the professor questions if I didn’t quite understand the subject. Also I would’ve spent more time reviewing the deadlines so I could’ve added assignments and coursework into my planner so that I would’ve been more aware of when homework / test where due. Allowing me to spend less time doing them last minute.
If I could travel back in time, I would tell myself to relax and to do things before the due date because most of the time I would rush to do homework assignments the day it was due and I wouldn't do so great. I would also tell myself to ask more questions.
Jump into the homework right after class so, if you get stuck, you can ask the teacher questions the next day.
If I were to go back in time I would tell myself and future students to focus and come to class, it’s a great way to be a part of the most engaging math class and to learn while having as much fun as you can in school.
I would tell myself to do the homework’s early and get a 90 at least.
I would also say try to finish the assignments a day or two before they are due just in case you need to ask the professor any questions about the material.
If I could go back in time I would tell my past self not to procrastinate when doing homework and make sure to stay on top of all the assignment deadlines because it will honestly make everything easier.
Get perfect scores on the top four quizzes right away. It will lower your stress for the remaining quizzes. But still do your best on the remaining quizzes that don't count, so you are ready for the tests.
Study together.
Don't be lulled into not studying for Test 2 and 3 by a good grade on the first test.
The homework and quizzes are the key to the class. They essentially pave the way for the tests which in turn can have redos based on the homework. Also to do every chance of bonus given because of how much of a struggle Calc II can be. And attend every single class as humanly possible, since I knowmyself and that I am not a fan of watching videos.
Show up to class more often, it's super beneficial and you'll understand the concepts a lot better. Also, ask questions! I would tell a friend taking this course next semester to do the math lab. It is a great tool to get practice in and to figure out what you don't know so you can ask questions. The test retakes are super nice too.
Look at the quizzes to study, math lab is reliable for practice, but the quizzes is mainly what’s on the tests which made life a lot easier.
Do not skip any class (like I did), because that just give you a lot of unnecessary stress prior the tests. And I would tell my friend entering to this class to keep practicing over the semester the topics of the previous tests, to be more confident and prepared on the final.
I would tell other people taking the course to study the quizzes in class for the upcoming tests and also do the hw in time to not worry about it before the test and earn a redo.
I would tell myself "Bro you gotta do the damn MyLab, it is impossible to finish it a day before the first test. Believe me I tried. Then you gotta study for dem quizzes cause it's better to get hundys on the first 4 right away than later, and THEN you gotta study for dem tests using the quizzes homie" using those exact words.
