Research Area
The research in my laboratory is focused on understanding the roles of efflux pump proteins in biofilm formation, antibiotic tolerance and lipid metabolism in nontuberculous mycobacteria such asĀ Mycobacterium abscessus. We utilize efflux pump inhibitors and gene knockout mutants inMycobacterium smegmatis, which is also a nontuberculous mycobacterium. Graduate and undergraduate students in my lab perform experiments that intersect the fields of microbiology, lipid biochemistry and molecular biology.
Opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students to participate in the ongoing research projects in my laboratory are available. Contact me by email (daniel58@pfw.edu)to learn more.
