Course
Description: I shall cover chapters 13-17. The main content of the course is
devoted to analytic geometry in space, vectors and vector functions,
functions of several variables and partial derivatives, multiple integration,
and vector calculus. The objective of the course is to master these topics
and concepts, as well as improve problem solving skills and critical thinking.
Grading:
There will be three tests, ten quizzes, and a comprehensive
final. Weekly electronic homework will be assigned. The semester grade will be
formed from quizzes - 15%, homework - 10%, three tests - 25% each. Additional
extra credit write-in homework will also be assigned, collected, and graded
weekly for up to 5% extra credit towards the semester score. The grade for the
course is based on 75% of the semester grade and 25% of the Final exam
according to the scale:
A 90
-100; B 80-89; C 70-79; D 60-69; F below 59.
No make-up tests or quizzes will be given unless proper excuse
is provided.
MyLab MATH Homework: MyLab
Math electronic homework will be assigned weekly. (see
Student Registration handout). It is the instructor's experience that keeping
up with the homework is an essential part of the preparation for
the course. The problems on the tests and the quizzes will be similar to the
homework.
Extra credit homework: Write-in extra credit
homework will also be assigned and collected weekly for a total of 5%, the goal
being to practice write-in solutions for quizzes and tests.
Math MALL: Tutors, GTAs and/or instructors will be
available to help with homework, calculators and coursework in
KT G38. We strongly recommend that you make use of the academic assistance.
